Ca. 27 % of the surface of a fireman’s protective jacket is covered by reflective strips. In previous models – as opposed to outer material and lining – these were not water vapor permeable and correspondingly had a marked negative effect on the positive effect of the good moisture barriers (membranes). Sweat cannot escape outwards under the standard reflex strips, and moisture can thus be transferred in greater volume to the skin, increasing the danger of scalding under certain conditions.

This danger is greatly reduced by means of the new perforated reflective strips as the sweat can now escape outwards.
