Lion Apparel Inc. was founded in 1898 in Dayton, Ohio, USA, as a company trading in articles of clothing. In 1935, the company began with the development and manufacture of special clothing. By the end of the 1980’s the former trading company had become a leading international product developer, producer and marketer of uniforms, service and special protective clothing. Since then, in the sector of clothing for firefighters, Lion Apparel has maintained its position as market leader worldwide. 

Today, some 700 employees produce over 6 million articles of clothing annually in the company’s own production facilities in the USA. In order to be able to produce even greater volumes, further quality-oriented producers in South America, Asia and Eastern Europe have been affiliated. The markets in the USA, Canada, the Argentine and Brazil are served from the USA. 

Further markets, served by locations in Europe and, respectively, Australia are: Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Saudi-Arabia (Lion Apparel Asia Pacific), Great Britain (Lion Apparel Systems Ltd.), France (Brunet Lion), Spain (TotalCare SL) and Germany (Lion Apparel Deutschland GmbH). Since October 2009, these parts of the Lion Apparel group belong to the international LHD group of companies.
